Manuel Aja Espil (b. 1987) was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and is currently based in Madrid, Spain. Aja Espil's painting is born out of a need to create stories. He works with fantastic universes that are a fusion of European pictorial tradition and contemporary iconography. His fascination for science fiction and his dystopian view on the coexistence of human beings and nature lead him to create anachronistic paintings that seem strangely familiar, playful, and ominous.
