Emergences, 2009-2013, Hudson River, Denning's Point State Park, Beacon, NY (low tide)
A grain of sand is at the center of the universe. The sculptures Emergences, a series of Raquel's artistic creations located along the Hudson River, were not simply static installations but dynamic, evolving entities. Composed of original riverbank rocks, these sculptures were subjected to the relentless ebb and flow of the tides, a natural process that gradually eroded and disintegrated the stones over time. In their eternal rhythm, the tides momentarily hid their sculptures; Patience was the cornerstone of her creations.
Although seemingly destructive, this disintegration was integral to Raquel's artistic vision, as the stones were slowly reduced to sand, a central element that subtly connects much of her work. She defied the observers, believing time would finally reveal the desired message. Her work emerges as a sanctuary of tranquility in chaos, where silence is transformed into a subtle but powerful resonance.
