Hutchinson Modern & Contemporary is pleased to announce Esteban Lisa’s (b. 1895, Spain, d. 1983, Argentina) first solo exhibition in New York since 2006. Painting avidly from the 1930s through the late 1970s, Lisa produced intimate, compact paintings. Lisa founded his own art school in Buenos Aires, the Escuela de Arte Moderno Las Cuatro Dimensiones (“The Four Dimensions” School of Modern Art) in 1955. Beyond his significant contributions to the visual arts and art education, Lisa was also an avid writer. He authored more than twelve books—many of which were dedicated to his theories on the cosmos—as well as texts on philosophy and space travel.
