The Decade Show: NEW MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART, NEW YORK; THE MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY HISPANIC ART, NEW YORK; STUDIO MUSEUM IN HARLEM, NEW YORK; 1990

The Museum of Contemporary Hispanic Art (MoCHA), along with other museums such as El Museo del Barrio and the Bronx Museum of the Arts, was a part of a network bringing Latin American and Caribbean art to the forefront in 1980s and 1990s New York. In both curatorial and public programs, MoCHA collaborated with other New York establishments such as Hostos Community College, INTAR Gallery, and the Center for Cuban Studies. MoCHA also partnered with the New Museum of Contemporary Art and the Studio Museum in Harlem to produce The Decade Show: Frameworks of Identity in the 1980s, which was co-curated by MoCHA's then-Associate Curator Julia Herzberg. The exhibition brought Hispanic, Asian, African American, Indigenous, and European artists together to address identity issues of the 1980s.

MoCHA's work not only played an integral part in expanding knowledge of Latin American art and artists, but also created an arts community centered on Latinx art for exhibiting artists and museum-goers alike.
