Priscilla Monge and Freddy Rodríguez in "El Dorado: Myths of Gold" at Americas Society

Opening September 6th, the Americas Society in New York presents the exhibition El Dorado: Myths of Gold, a group show including Priscilla Monge and Freddy Rodríguez. The exhibition is co-curated by Aimé Iglesias Lukin (Director and Chief Curator of Art at the Americas Society), Edward Sullivan (the Helen Gould Shepard Professor in the History of Art at the New York University), and Tie Jojima (Associate Curator at the Americas Society and PhD candidate at the Graduate Center, CUNY).

El Dorado: Myths of Gold, is a two-part exhibition that will bring together artworks ranging from the Pre-Hispanic period to the contemporary era, exploring the myth of El Dorado as a foundation narrative of the Americas. The exhibition will present artworks that challenge, reinforce, and question the continuity of the myth in the Americas until today. To accompany the show, Americas Society will present a series of public programs, including an academic symposium, and will publish a catalogue and a reader featuring texts by leading scholars about El Dorado.
