THE NEW YORK TIMES "HOW THE WHITNEY'S TOP LATINO CURATOR IS SHAKING UP THE ART WORLD"

BY ROBIN POGREBIN, REPORTER ON THE CULTURE DESK AT THE NEW YORK TIMES

Marcela Guerrero, the Associate Curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art, has been praised for her attempts to diversify the institution as well as the art world at large. In the article, she reflects and celebrates the inclusion of HM&C artist Freddy Rodríguez's painting Y me quedé sin nombre in the exhibition In the Balance: Between Painting and Sculpture, 1965-1985.

Guerrero claims "He [Freddy Rodríguez] said he had been in other Latinx shows, but never in a mainstream show." I’ll take a win — as small as it is. That’s my fuel."
