Discussion of HM&C Artist Vargas-Suarez Universal's Work at the National Gallery of Art

On Thursday, January 11th, from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm, join the hybrid talk "Terraforming the Gallery: Brown Matters in Art of the Americas," an in-depth presentation on Latinx artists’ responses to the space age and how they have long considered aerospace and space history central to their work.

Robb Hernández, Ailsa Mellon Bruce Senior Fellow at the National Gallery’s Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts, will address the site-specific installation practices of Beatriz Cortez, rafa esparza, and Vargas-Suarez Universal, and how “they dare to remake the museum into an image of themselves and, thus, anticipate a great brown world to come.”
