"HUTCHINSON MODERN & CONTEMPORARY
The New York gallery, which comes to the fair for the first time as part of “The shore, the tide, the current: an oceanic Caribbean,” presents two essential artists due to their important social background: Freddy Rodríguez and Juan Sánchez. The first, of Dominican origin, talks about the conquest and colonization through vibrant and powerful figurative canvases where Caribbean culture is very present. For his part, Sánchez, born in Brooklyn but with a Puerto Rican father, claims cultural and racial identity through his creations, where he mixes painting and photography with cuttings from found media and objects."
